Took a trip down to Thalia Street Surf Shop on Saturday and picked myself out a new longboard. Now if the wind would just stop blowing the ocean to crap I’d go and try it out.

LOST LONGBOARD

So yesterday night I had my first go at shooting water photos. Also, surfed a bit. When I got back to my car I put my board on top of my car and sat down in my front seat to fiddle with my camera. In the process I forgot all about strapping down my board. I drove out of the San O’ parking lot, made the right at the stop sign, cruised around the bend, turned right onto Basilone and hit the accelerator. Suddenly I heard the wax of my board lift off my roof rack and my stomach sank. I couldn’t pull a quick U-turn because of the divided highway but I turned around as soon as I could. When I got back to the spot where my board should have been it was gone. I then proceeded to retrace my driving path a couple of times, walked the road in the dark and ultimately found nothing. Today I returned to the scene and talked with a park ranger before scouring the roadside and climbing through the bushes in search of my lost board. Nothing. On the way back to my car I looked in the road for a sign of green paint. I spotted a faint green streak and I figured that was probably evidence of my board’s landing place. Looks like in the minute and a half that it took me to turn around last night someone snatched up my board. Such a bummer. I’m going to post some fliers around San O’ and hopefully their conscience gets the better of them. Maybe they picked it up with the intent to track me down or maybe they thought I was an idiot for forgetting to strap the board down and figured I deserved to lose my board. Either way I’m without one of my favorite boards. So, if you happen to see someone with a spray painted lime green longboard with a blue fin let them know I’m looking for that board. Such a bummer…
